Claude, j'ai un charmant ... amical ... généreux ... enflammé ... etc ... BONJOUR à te transmettre.
Le voici en photo.
Ils sont vraiment super sympa tous les deux ...
Lefty Loosey a écrit :Well, another nice French Rally over, and the three Bulleteers are still on the road home - that's Steve, Roger and Henry.
Henry was in great demand by the French riders for repairs and a laying on of hands to Enfields.
Which he did with great success. It seems he is revered as a kind of God by these riders for his miraculous powers of healing.
And I've seen it with my own eyes - those bikes, like Lazarus, did come to life.
Stephen and Roger ordered Henry to get down to the supermarket and then feed them,
which he did successfully with a fine salad and excellent Savoie wines chilled in an ice bucket -
very haute cuisine! You Bulleteers live high on the hog.
Stephen sorted all the world's problems which we could throw at him - and cruelly accused me of being a lefty,
liberal, treehugging new age type. He denied that C02 is a problem and said it was all bollocks.
Could he be right? He also politely tasted the wonderful alcohol offered by the French hosts.
He was so polite he tasted quite a lot.
Actually, never mind the CO2, the amount of methane produced by two of your Bulleteers is surely a major contribution to global emissions.
Well, as the poet said, "Where'er you be, let your wind gang free".
Roger regaled us with stories of the outback, and living on a diet of Ovaltine and water.
He assured us that a svelte figure was certain after this; I've started my diet already.
We might market this wheeze. He also revealed the secret of his spark plug 'fix' to ensure a good spark.
Does anyone think a fiver was too much to pay for this info? Roger assured me it was a bargain.....
At the Rally, there was Katrine who in 1989 (I think) travelled with her Enfield to India - and back.
She still has the Delhi plate on the front of her yellow and black bike.
After seeing the poverty there, she made frequent return visits (by air!) to help with a charity.
Everyone seemed to be well fed here by the kindly French- none of your British greaseburgers and chips here.
And of course there was Henry's Michelin starred repas. Heston Blumenthal watch out!
Your Three Bulleteers chose to pass on the Saturday run, preferring to lounge in the sun drinking and eating.
They said someone had to do it. I agree, but all day? And then to eat at the barbecue that evening? A tad too much, I fear.
Anyway all three hit the road this morning, with Roger's tankbag trussed up with bungees because of a broken zip -
let's hope his stuff doesn't spill out! All bikes sounding in fine fettle as they headed for the 1000 metre (3000ft in old money) Col du Frenes on their way to Annecy. Tally ho I say.
Other Bulleteers might think about enjoying themselves as these three did, riding through the countryside from the ferry and ending up among snowy mountains at this rally.
Book yourself in for next year. But be careful; I 've just been reading about Ian Coates (67) who went out for a four month trip on his Africa Twin - 12 years later and he hasn't been back yet from a RTW trip. He's in Spain now, on the way home.
Could be you? "Suits you sir!".
